JobQuest.ph and MoreThanJobs.com.ph Kick Off Jobs Fair 2020

HR Solutions company, JobQuest.ph and online recruitment portal, MoreThanJobs.com.ph ended January with Jobs Fair 2020: Trabaho for Every Juan.

Starmall EDSA Shaw served as the venue for the two-day job fair that attracted thousands of jobseekers from all over Metro Manila.

Jobs Fair 2020: Trabaho for Every Juan featured hundreds of job vacancies for all kinds of applicants – undergraduates, highschool graduates, vocational or TESDA certified, and career shifters too.

Over thirty companies from different industries participated in the job fair event supported by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Employment Service Office (PESO).

Jobs Fair 2020 is just the first of many more job fairs scheduled this year as part of the renewed partnership between JobQuest.ph and MoreThanJobs.com.ph.

JobQuest PH and MoreThanJobs PH Mounts Jobs Fair 2019 in Trinoma Anew

The number 13 isn’t really unlucky, at least not when it comes to the partnership between JobQuest PH and MoreThanJobs PH.

Online HR solutions provider JobQuest PH and online job portal MoreThanJobs PH partners for the 13th edition of Jobs Fair 2019: Trabaho for Every Juan.

The job fair event brought together hundreds of companies from various industries pooling thousands of available job vacancies for every Juan!

As expected, job seekers in and around Metro Manila trooped to Trinoma Activity Center to take part in the two-day job fair event. Job fair data is still not available as of this blog writing, but we will update this with the necessary info as soon as they become available.

We’d like to thank everyone who joined us in Trinoma for two days. Words can’t express how appreciative we are of your support and participation. Rest assured, this is not the last, so keep your eye out for our next job fair schedule happening soon.

How to Answer: “Why Are You Leaving Your Current Company?”

In the first of our ongoing interview questions and how to answer them series, we’ll take on the top question on every interviewer’s mind whenever they see an applicant that’s still connected to their present company.

Question: WHY ARE YOU LEAVING YOUR CURRENT COMPANY?

Why interviewers ask this question? It is common to seek for new opportunities while still employed, but doing so could raise red flags and questions on the interviewer’s mind. Are you leaving for a good
reason? Are you leaving voluntarily? It’s best to have a solid answer just in case you encountered this question on your next interview.

The most important thing when they ask “Why you are looking to leave your current job” is to stay positive and never badmouth.

How do you sound positive? Rather than complaining or talking badly about your current situation, say that you’re looking for more of something.

Is your current boss a power tripper or lazy? Say that you’re looking for an environment with more leadership you can learn from.

Dos:

– Sound positive and focus on what you want to gain by making a move
– Show gratitude for your current job
– Sound like you’re ambitious, motivated, and eager to find the next challenge in your career.

Don’ts :

– Badmouth your boss current employer in any way
– Sound like you’re trying to escape a bad situation, or you’re failing or not fitting in at your current job
– Say you’re struggling or failing to perform the work
– Say it’s too difficult or stressful
– Never lie.

Good sample answers:

“I’m looking for more leadership opportunities. I’ve been at my company for three years and have really enjoyed the experience but I feel in order to take the next step in my career, it’d be helpful to join a larger organization and use what I’ve learned in the past to lead more projects. That’s why this
Project Manager role excited me.”

“I have decided to shift from admin to marketing, because marketing is my passion. I love interacting to all kinds of people and I have creative ideas that will surely contribute to the growth of the company. I know that not only will this new career be more natural for me, but I will also enjoy it. If you hire me, you will be able to see the difference I’ll bring within a very short period.”

In this series of posts, we will talk about how to reply to common interview questions. We will feature one (or two) questions per post and offer valuable tips to help you get that job. Feel free to send us questions you want answers in the comment section below.

Today, we will answer the question: “Where do you see yourself five years from now?”

Hiring managers will always throw this question in an interview, and sometimes jobseekers find it difficult to answer because no one can envision what will happen 1,825 days from now. What the hiring manager really wants to find out with this question is:

Could I expect this person to stay with the company for a long time?

Here are a few tips from Mr. Paul Sandoval, a recruitment professional for more than ten years, on how to accurately answer this tricky question and get the job.

TIPS:

Tell the interviewer about your long term career goal- it has to be clear and realistic. Interviewers hear the responses to this question every day, so they will definitely know if your answer is good, well-rehearsed or not true.
Explain how the job you’re applying for is in line with your career goals. The interviewer wants to know how interested are you in getting the job, and that you are willing to learn and grow in their organization.
If you want to step up to a management role, explain your plans and how will intend to get there. Talk about how this job will help and prepare you in getting that promotion. You can discuss about the daily tasks, seminars and trainings offered by the company, which can be very helpful to your advancement.
Tell the interviewer that career advancement is very important to you, that you are excited to be an expert in the position you are applying for, and that you are looking forward to sharing what you know by, coaching other employees, and taking on more responsibilities after five years.

RIGHT ANSWERS:

“My career goal is to work in an organization where I’ll have daily challenges and opportunities to develop my skills as a software developer. I want the responsibility of taking on interesting IT projects and collaborating with people that can truly help me learn.”

“Although my real focus is to be the best sales executive of a reputable company, I would very much like to be promoted into a sales supervisory or management position in five years. I enjoy supporting my team members, train sales executives to become achievers, and to bring more clients to the company.”

WRONG ANSWERS:

I don’t have a plan/ I don’t know.
If you are applying for a sales job, don’t answer that you want to be a full time highschool teacher someday.
I see myself working in this company.
I want to be successful someday.
I want your job some day.
I want to be the CEO of this company, with a salary of 1M pesos and a company car.
As high as I can go.
I want to own my own company someday.

If you want to be a business man, wants to travel a lot, transfer to another city or change of career someday, keep them to yourself for now. Remember, you are being interviewed to know if you can help the company grow, excel, solve problems and become an asset. Your answer to this question will determine if you will get the job, or you will apply for another one.
